Street closed for hospital rooftop work

Times Observer photo by Brian Ferry A crane from Benchley Cranes of Buffalo works on the replacement of a cooling tower and air handler units on the roof of Warren General Hospital. Parts of the old equipment can be seen in the foreground.

The northernmost block of Main Avenue on Warren’s South Side is closed to traffic for most of the week.

A Benchley Crane will be moving equipment to, from, and around the roof of Warren General Hospital through Thursday.

“Currently, we are replacing our cooling tower and adding an air handler unit to our chiller room,” Executive Director of Operations Dan Grolemund said. “The existing cooling tower was installed in 1996 and is no longer working properly. This will allow us to cool our building much more effectively in the hot summer months.”

On Monday, large fans and the tubes that used to contain them could be seen at ground level next to the hospital.

Starting at $3.50/week.
