WCSD: Three COVID cases in Youngsville schools

Warren County School District has announced three positive cases of COVID-19 in its west attendance area — the Youngsville schools.

Superintendent Amy Stewart said there are three cases within the district. She did not disclose if those positive cases are students, staff, or some combination.

“We had one earlier in the week and another two today,” Stewart said late Thursday.

Those who tested positive are isolating. The district has also performed contact tracing.

“The close contacts of the positive cases are quarantining,” she said.

Students who are at home due to COVID restrictions can continue with their studies.

“Students needing to quarantine are able to pivot to Option 3 and live stream into their courses so they will not get behind,” Stewart said.

Warren County as a whole has had 66 positive cases of COVID-19. Of those, 55 are confirmed and 11 listed as probable. There have been 4,067 negative tests conducted in the county. The rate per 100,000 is 167.1 – the lowest of any county in the state. The only COVID-related death of a county resident was reported on July 1.
