The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmers to Families Food Box program will be in Warren County on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The program provides a box of food — milk, butter, cheese, eggs, chicken, fruit, and potatoes — to families.

Locally, the Warren-Forest Counties Economic Opportunity Council is partnering with First Lutheran Church of Warren, on the event.

“The USDA has partnered with farmers, ranchers, specialty crop producers, food processors, distributors, and non-profit organizations across the country to make sure all have access to fresh, wholesome food during the COVID-19 pandemic,” EOC Community Services Director Jeanne Fralick said. “Sysco Food Distribution is working to put together the food kits for households in our community.”

The kits are available for pick-up from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at First Lutheran Church, Third Avenue and East Street in Warren, on a first-come-first-served basis.

There is no need to register. Boxes will not be reserved.

“Each household will receive: a dairy box with one pound of butter, two pounds of shredded mozzarella cheese, and two pounds of liquid egg; a meat box with 2.5 pounds of chicken patties and 2.5 pounds of diced, fully cooked chicken breast; a produce box with one to five pounds of apples, one to five pounds of potatoes, and two pounds of sweet potatoes; and one gallon of milk,” Fralick said.

Participants will be asked to provide their zip code and the number of people in the household.
