Free Books provides reading materials to area children

Free Books isn’t just about free books.

Since 2011, Free Books has been providing books to area children.

“The goal is to introduce children to the joy of reading and to inspire a love of reading,” Founder and Director Ruby Wiles said.

Recently, the organization held a mini-carnival to go along with a book give-away at Wilderness Park, according to Wiles.

“Thanks to a Thrivent Action Team grant and the help of park managers Bill and Heather Wilcox, all the children enjoyed summer carnival games and a wide selection of free books sure to match their own interests,” Wiles said.

The volunteer team included Wiles, Free Books Board Member Barb Lucia, and Brittany Hulse, Terry Lester, Brianna Farren, and Steve Shaw.
