Citing increasing COVID-19 case counts in Pennsylvania and a desire to be “proactive,” the City of Warren will be restricting public access to city facilities.

City Manager Nancy Freenock said on Tuesday that the city will be returning to single point of entry at the municipal building effective Nov. 2.

“The ‘surge’ is on,” she said. “With people spending more time indoors and the cases in Pa. rising, the city wanted to be proactive.”

She also indicated that there “is a large rally occurring today in Erie and we are concerned because we have heard that a number of Warren residents plan to attend.”

That would be President Donald Trump’s Tuesday night rally at the Erie International Airport

“Individuals entering the City Building will be required to use the ramp entrance at the back of the building; a hands free device to monitor temperature has been installed,” Freenock said. “To access the FD (Fire Department), one will have to ring the bell at the public entrance. Access to the DPW garage and the Sewage Treatment Plant will also be limited.”
