Sexual offender headed to state prison for concealing a minor

A Warren man already registered as a sexual offender is headed to state prison after enticing a 15-year-old to his residence.

Trentin Rounds, 20, was sentenced on Friday by Judge Gregory Hammond.

According to police, a 15-year-old girl left her home after 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, after her parents went to work, to meet with Rounds.

When her mother returned home shortly after leaving for work, she discovered her daughter was gone and called police.

Police said the mother found a number for Rounds and called him. “When the defendant answered, he stated that he did not know the whereabouts of the juvenile, which was later found to be a lie,” police said in the affidavit of probable cause.

His attorney, Alan Conn, said Rounds is “very sorry” about what he has done and apologized to the girl involved and her family.

He cited recent good behavior at the county jail and indicated he had completed a significant amount of coursework while incarcerated.

First Assistant District Attorney Cody Brown emphasized that Rounds is a sexual offender who enticed a 15-year-old to his residence and then lied to the minor’s parents when they were looking for her.

Rounds declined to comment when given the opportunity.

Hammond said the plea is an “unbelievable break” for Rounds that is worth decades of potential consequences.

He then said the sentence would be in the aggravated range due his status as a sexual offender and being on parole when this offense occurred.

Hammond then sentenced Rounds to 12 to 48 months incarceration in state prison with credit for 52 days time served, $1,625 in fines and fees, a no contact/no communication order and submission of a DNA sample on a count of corruption of minors. He is not boot camp or recidivism risk reduction incentive eligible.

Rounds is a Tier I sex offender required to register for 15 years. A photo of Rounds dated Aug. 10, 2019, shows up on the Megan’s Law site maintained by Pennsylvania State Police.

He pled guilty in Warren County court in April 2018 to indecent assault — without consent, and corruption of minors, for fondling a 14-year-old girl.
