Route 6 project from Sheffield to Clarendon to begin next week

A PennDOT project on Route 6 from Sheffield to Clarendon will begin next week.

The resurfacing project will provide a smoother ride on about 5 miles from Winger Avenue in Clarendon to Willow Street in Sheffield.

“Construction is expected to begin Aug. 3, 2020, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by late August,” according to a release from District Press Officer Jill Harry. “Work will also include base repairs, micro surfacing, and pavement markings.”

There is no expectation that detours will be needed for the project, but motorists may encounter some lane restrictions and should be alert for traffic pattern shifts, lane restrictions, and should expect delays during work hours, Harry said.

The work will be completed by Suit Kote of Cortland, N.Y. The contract of $499,000 will be paid with federal funds.
