Mobile Health Unit to be in city

Times Observer photo by Brian Ferry the Adagio Health Mobile Health Unit will be in Warren on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at the corner of Second Avenue and Liberty Street.

It’s health and wellness services on wheels.

Starting now, the Adagio Health Mobile Health Unit will be in Warren from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at the corner of Second Avenue and Liberty Street.

“The Mobile Health Unit is a 36-foot long vehicle equipped with a reception area, exam room, lab, and restroom,” according to Adagio External Affairs Chief Alicia Schisler. “Clinical staff include a certified registered nurse practitioner and two medical assistants. On board, patients will be provided with a wide range of health care services along with referrals to other providers as needed. Services are billed to insurance companies or Medicaid, and for patients who don’t have insurance or who are underinsured, reproductive health care is provided at low or no cost. Many services are available regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.”

“We are proud to be expanding our presence in rural areas where access to health care can be limited,” President and CEO BJ Leber said.

“Now, those residents don’t have to drive long distances to access reproductive and preventive health care. Instead, Adagio Health is coming to them.”

“Our services are focused on health care, nutrition, and education,” Schisler said. “Among the health care services we offer are family planning and reproductive healthcare including breast and cervical cancer screenings, pelvic exams, STI testing and treatment, prenatal care, basic infertility diagnosis and treatment, birth control and natural family planning. We also offer basic but essential adult preventive care including immunizations and screenings; along with tobacco cessation counseling and education. Nutrition services include WIC in five Pennsylvania counties, and our Power Up Snap-ED program funded by the USDA.”

Women, men and teens are eligible to receive services through Adagio Health Mobile Health, she said. “Services are confidential, and patients can expect to receive excellent care in a comfortable, welcoming setting.”

Adagio Health’s Mobile Unit offers an on-board lab for blood draws and screenings, and the entire vehicle is ADA compliant. A lift system for mobility assistance is available.
