Sixth COVID-19 case in county

There is a new case of COVID-19 in Warren County.

It had been almost a month since the previous report.

The details of the case are not being released, but the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported late Tuesday morning a total of six cases in the county.

On its COVID-19 dashboard, the department showed five confirmed cases and one suspected case among the six in the county.

“It was not a patient that has come through Warren General Hospital,” CEO Rick Allen said Tuesday afternoon.

“We are trying to validate if it was a presumptive positive,” Chief Nursing Officer Dr. Joe Akif said. “If so, it could be an antibody result.”

A positive antibody test would indicate someone who had COVID-19 in the past.

The Warren County Commissioners didn’t have any corroboration of the new case, either.

“We do not have any further details about the case,” Commissioner Ben Kafferlin said. “Unlike other cases that we can confirm through a second (local) source, we haven’t yet found a second source.”

The county’s first case was reported by the department on March 24.

There was not a second reported case for almost two months — until May 13.

The third was reported on May 20.

Cases four and five were reported on consecutive days — June 3 and 4.
