Fireworks still a go in county, but at different location

Fundraising continues to bring the best possible fireworks show to Warren on July 4.

While fundraising continues, the location of the show has changed.

“The location of the fireworks display has been changed to an undisclosed location because I’m protecting my property donors privacy,” organizer Beth Hoffman said in a Facebook post.

“The community will be able to view the display from the big blue parking garage through the west side of town and all of Starbrick!” she said. “As long as you can see the cell phone tower you will have a perfect view!”

Hoffman apologized to those on the east side who now won’t be able to see the fireworks but said the “change of venue was due to circumstances out of my control.

“I disclosed the first location of Oakland Cemetery which I had permission from the board on their letterhead turned into (the) Pleasant Township supervisors,” she explained. “A permit was then issued to me in my name. Then a revocation request from Oakland was issued.”

A $2,500 minimum has already been met.

The effort has raised roughly $6,000 of a $20,000 goal — the typical show costs around $15,000 — as of Friday afternoon.
