Wall fire put out in Ludlow

Firefighters took less than an hour to knock down a fire early Monday in Ludlow.

They were called to 10 S. Hillside St. at 12:25 a.m. Ludlow fire chief Jonathan Biers reported no visible flames at the time of arrival. Everyone was able to exit the residence before first responders arrived, resulting in no injuries or rescues.

It took approximately 25 minutes to knock down the fire and firefighters were on scene a total of one hour, said Biers.

The wood deck in the back of the residence was burnt. The cause of the fire was electrical, he said. There were wires in one of the walls that failed, resulting in firefighters having to break out a 2 foot by 3 foot section of the wall.

The residents are reportedly staying with relatives across the street and reported they had no insurance on the home.

Both Ludlow VFD and Kane VFD had two trucks and 10 men each on scene, Kane EmergyCare ambulance assisted and Sheffield VFD was on standby at its station.
