Tidioute Charter plans for activity packets

The Tidioute Community Charter School will be sending activity packets to students starting next Tuesday.

That’s according to an update that Chief Educational Officer Dr. Doug Allen provided to the Times Observer on Friday.

Allen said the school continues to follow the governor’s “directions due to the emergency school closure order.”

He explained that the school “has elected to enrich students with activities provided by teachers as our continuity of instruction plan.

“Starting on Tuesday, March 31,2020, parents-guardians will be mailed activity packets and, in addition, enrichment activities are available on teachers’ classroom pages on our website. Our school nurse, mental health counselor, student services employees and our teachers have website links or postings. The public is welcome to visit (our) TCCS website.”

That website is tidioutecharter.com.

“All weekly updates to the community are posted on the TCCS website,” Allen said. “Students from four school districts who attend TCCS are updated weekly by U.S. mail and by phone and email blasts sent through our communication system.”

Board meetings held during the closure will be held remotely via GoToMeeting “and any meetings will be advertised with the connecting information made available to the public,” Allen said, noting that the April 8 meeting will be held in that format.

“We at TCCS continue to care about our families and students and we will provide the necessary services and enrichment per Governor Wolf’s closure order daily as needed,” Board of Trustees President Al Haney said. “Any family needing assistance should email an employee or call school. Thank you to our team for assisting.”

Allen said the school is serving “on average 200 meals to students on each Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon using the pickup plan.”
