Sounds like a good idea

Even with social distancing, music teacher doing her part

It’s said that in times of crisis, you will always find the helpers.

Nordland Music Studio in Youngsville is offering complimentary lessons for any musician looking to practice their skills and take advantage of the down-time.

Being 37 weeks pregnant, Joanna Nordland, owner and teacher at Nordland Music Studio, doesn’t have much time left before her baby’s arrival.

Until then, Nordland will be offering 20-minute lessons at no-cost, and teaches violin, viola, piano, and music theory. These lessons are for anyone who is home with some extra down time while we are practicing social distancing. She said that she simply just wants to help everyone to stay motivated.

With schools being closed, kids are home and missing out on the daily activities they would usually participate in. Students are missing out on band, and choir and their daily music practices.

Joanna Nordland and her family

According to Nordland, parents can help with reading and math, but they can’t always help with music, and that’s where she comes in. And, with many parents being out of work right now, she realizes some may not have the resources to acquire online teachers regularly available.

This is why she is offering these virtual lessons complimentary. There is no fee for these lessons, but donations to the studio are always appreciated.

“I know a lot of us have been financially impacted by this,” said Nordland. “I want to help you take advantage of that time at home and expand your musical skills.”

She wants these lessons to be accessible and affordable, so that everyone can be included.

Nordland lives in Youngsville with her husband, Isaiah, and son, Theo, and their baby on the way. Isaiah, the worship leader and music director at Brokenstraw Valley Church, helps out occasionally at the studio. The family loves exploring new adventures and local coffee shops. They also love being a part of the community and being able to do their part during this time of need.

If interested in a complimentary lesson, contact Nordland Music Studio. Don’t wait too long. With Nordland’s due date quickly approaching, “if you wait a couple weeks, you may miss out.”
