Warren man will register as sex offender with guilty pleas

A Warren man will have to register as a sexual offender for the next 15 years as a result of pleas entered on Thursday.

Dakota L. Hepler-Kostreba, 24, pled guilty to charges at three dockets on Thursday during change of plea proceedings before President Judge Maureen Skerda.

He first pled guilty to corruption of minors – defendant age 18 or above and indecent assault, both of which carry 15 year registration requirements.

Skerda indicated that he touched the breast of a 17-year-old female and also reached down her pants and over her underwear.

In exchange for that plea, charges including corruption of minors, indecent assault and two counts of harassment/stalking were not prosecuted.

At the second docket, he pled guilty to corruption of minors and indecent assault, the latter which carries Megan’s Law requirements.

In that case, Skerda said he provided marijuana to a 15-year-old who was at his residence and also pushed his body into hers and touched her stomach and chest without consent.

Additional charges of corruption of minors, indecent assault and harassment/stalking were not prosecuted.

He pled guilty at the third docket to endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault.

Skerda noted that sometime last July he bit a three-year-old child, leaving noticeable bite marks on the victim’s leg.

In exchange for that plea, charges of endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault were not prosecuted.

Skerda laid out the maximum possible penalties which would total 28 years and fines up to $60,000.
