Times Observer newsroom welcomes Kate Cataldo

Photo submitted to Times Observer Kate Cataldo

Kate Cataldo lived in Warren through the third grade.

Now, she’s back.

After almost nine years in Pittsburgh, Cataldo is joining the editorial staff at the Times Observer.

To add a little creativity.

She brings vast experience in photography, having taken photographs for katelyncataldo.com since 2017. She’s a 2014 graduate of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in Graphic Design.

She focused on portraits of couples, families, weddings and, believe it or not, that’s what she’ll do here. Only, photography AND writing.

She’s excited about the creative aspect of journalism, getting to know people, places, and things — but mostly people.

When on a photoshoot, “I get to spend the whole day with them and get to know the people,” said Cataldo. “(In a photo), I focus on the feel of it. The emotion and the feeling rather than the setting.”

Now, with ties to Warren that include her mom, court reporter Jenny Scalise, and her father, Dave Cataldo, a former teacher and wrestling coach at Warren Area High School, she’s ready to get to feeling.

Cataldo graduated from Bermudian Springs High School, a small school in York Springs, Pa., but she knows her way around Warren County.

She can be reached at kcataldo@timesobserver.com, or by calling (814) 723-8200, extension 621.
