State Rep. Causer to offer tax clinics for seniors

Rep. Martin Causer is hosting clinics this month at local senior centers.

He will be discussing the local residents of free Property Tax and Rental Rebates.

The information will benefit local Pennsylvanians 65 and older, widows and widowers 50 years and older, and those older than 18 years with disabilities.

Residents will be assisted in filing for free Property Tax and Rental Rebate programs during these clinics and anyone is open to attend.

Causer would like to remind residents to bring all necessary income, property tax or rental information that is required to process claims efficiently and accurately.

There are income limits when applying for eligibility. Limits are set at $15,000 for renters and $35,000 for homeowners. 50 percent of Social Security Income and Railroad Retirement Tier 1 benefits are excluded from total incomes earned. Also, Veterans with disability benefits and/or pensions are not required to declare that income.

Upcoming dates include:

Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Mt. Jewett Senior Center, 8 E. Main St., Mt. Jewett, 1-2 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 19 at Eldred Senior Center, 169 Main St., Eldred, 9:30-11 a.m.
