Sheffield man sentenced on statutory sexual assault

Tyler J. Ordiway, 20, of Sheffield, was sentenced to jail time on Thursday by President Judge Maureen Skerda at the Warren County Courthouse.

Earlier this year, Ordiway entered a guilty plea on one count of statutory sexual assault: 4-to-8 years older, and one count of corruption of minors.

“I made a mistake,” said Ordiway.

District Attorney Robert Greene said Ordiway knew what he was doing, and simply likes little girls. Greene said Ordiway should be held accountable for having sex with a 13-year-old girl while being a 19-year-old man.

Greene also said Ordiway originally faced eight additional charges, even though these charges were not to be considered when sentencing. Court records will show these charges were dropped in May.

Judge Skerda said, “You didn’t make a mistake. No, you committed a crime.”

Ordiway was sentenced to 10-to-24 months incarceration with credit for one day served, two consecutive years probation, over $1,550 in fines and fees, a no contact order with the victim, 100 hours community service, and submission of DNA sample on count of statutory sexual assault: 4-to-8 years older. Additionally, he was given two years probation served consecutively, over $500 in fines and fees, and 50 hours of community service on a count of corruption of minors. Ordiway is work-release eligible.
