Rapp: Not ‘ignoring’ coronavirus in PA

There aren’t any reported cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Pennsylvania, but that doesn’t mean the state is sitting back and waiting for the first. State officials, including Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-65), chairwoman of the House Health Committee, are on top of it.

“I am informed every time there is something new,” Rapp said Friday. “We’ve had several conference calls with the Secretary of Health. We had another today.”

“The Secretary and the Department of Health are working very closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency,” she said. “As of now, there are no cases in Pennsylvania.”

Updates are available through the Pennsylvania Department of Health at 877-PA HEALTH or health.pa.gov and the CDC’s website — cdc.gov/covid19.

“The secretary said today that they are working and communicating more than daily with the governor’s office,” Rapp said. “They are working very closely with the administration in Washington.”

“We’re all working very closely here,” she said. “This is not something that we’re ignoring.”
