Medical helicopter forced to make emergency landing

Weather conditions on Sunday evening forced the emergency landing of a medical helicopter with a patient on board.

The helicopter landed near the upper reservoir at Kinzua Dam. First responders were called to the scene at 6:40 p.m.

It was first thought that terrain rescue assistance would be needed, however, rescuers were able to reach the helicopter by ambulance.

Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department, EmergyCare and Pennsylvania State Police Warren responded to the scene. Both the patient on board and the flight crew were taken to UPMC Hamot in Erie by ambulance.
