The actions ranged from the commonplace — holding a door for someone — to the exceptional — helping a student pick up dropped items that other students were kicking down the hall — but each was a random act of kindness.

In celebration of Random Acts of Kindness Day, Feb. 17, Beaty-Warren Middle School held a Random Acts of Kindness Week Feb. 18 through 21.

Throughout the week, teachers and students took note when students went out of their way to do good things — “holding a door, loaning a pencil to another student, picking up dropped items, helping a teacher,” Principal Shannon Yeager said.

“Students and teachers nominated these students,” Yeager said. “We had 41 students who were recognized.”

Each student received a Beaty Dragon FIRE magnet — a principal’s award for citizenship.
