A Warren man faces a statutory sexual assault charge for allegedly having sex with a juvenile.

Dakota S. Griffin, 19, of Warren, is charged with statutory sexual assault — four to eight years older; and two counts of corruption of minors.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, a girl who was 15 years old — four years younger than Griffin — at the time of the alleged October incident, sneaked out of a city residence and met Griffin at his.

“The defendant and the victim went to the back porch area of the residence where they both smoked marijuana together,” according to the affidavit. “The victim stated that she and the defendant engaged in sexual intercourse on the back porch of the defendant’s residence.”

Police interviewed Griffin in January.

“The defendant did finally admit that he provided marijuana to the victim in this case and eventually confessed to engaging in sexual intercourse,” according to the affidavit. “The defendant did state that he was led to believe the victim was older than reported.”

Griffin was taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $10,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.
