Sheffield man pleads guilty to underage sex charges

A Sheffield man has pled guilty to charges stemming from allegations that he had sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Tyler J. Ordiway, 20, entered a plea to charges of statutory sexual assault: 4-8 years older and corruption of minors before President Judge Maureen Skerda on Thursday morning.

Pennsylvania State Police alleged back in April that Ordiway contacted a girl who was spending the night at his home on Dec. 22, 2018, asking her to meet him in the bathroom. Police said the girl met Ordiway and had sex with him.

Police said in the affidavit of probable cause that the girl spent the night again in January and agreed to meet Ordiway again. She reportedly told police she performed oral sex on him in his bedroom.

According to police, Ordiway admitted to having sex with the girl, but denied having oral sex with her. Police said Ordiway said he did not know the girl was 13, “stating he thought she was older.”

He initially faced eight additional charges – IDSI person less than 16 years of age, two counts of unlawful contact with a minor – sexual offenses, three counts of corruption of minors and two counts of indecent assault person less than 16 years of age.

Online court records indicate that those charges were withdrawn by the Commonwealth back in May.
