County: How to vote Tuesday on new machines
Voting is just around the corner, and with newly-elected officials comes new voting machines this year.
No need to panic, the county has put together a video tutorial to make voting a breeze.
The new system offers a highly-effective and secure way of voting and offers multiple opportunities for the voter to check and verify their votes.
Although majorly the same, there are a few key differences in the voting process.
One is that the voter will not be given a card anymore, instead the poll worker will insert their card and activate the ballot. Once ballot is activated, the ballot will pull up on the screen and the voter can begin making their selections.
Once the voter has made all of their selections, a chance to review the ballot will appear. If the voter did not vote in an area, or undervoted, the system will alert them. For example, if a name could have been written in but was not, you will be notified.
Once finished reviewing the ballot, they will “print” the ballot which will include a QR code and a list of the selections made.
Upon reviewing the printed ballot, the ballot will be inserted into the ballot box. This step makes the vote official. All ballot boxes are collected each evening and sent to the courthouse where they are scanned in.
Scanning them generates two records of votes cast, a digital and a printed, in case of a recount. This system also creates a paper trail in the event of some type of machine error.
The full video tutorial is 2 minutes and 6 seconds long and can be found at the County homepage, https://warrencopa.com/, and at https://youtu.be/F7TN-WTxFpo.
