He was born October 2, 1987 in Corry, Pa., a son of Sidney and Kaye Miller Johnson of Spartansburg, Pa.

Merrit was raised and educated in Spartansburg and then graduated from Corry Area High School in 2006. Following high school, he worked at Corry Beverage for a few years. He then worked as a welder at several local businesses including Chase Manufacturing and Corry Contract.

He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. He also loved all the pet dogs he has had over the years. Merrit will be remembered as a good hearted, fun loving person.

Merrit was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Geraldine (Roth) Miller; his paternal grandparents, James and Mary (Smith ) Johnson; and an infant sister, Erin Johnson.

In addition to his parents, Merrit is survived by two brothers, S. Dylan Johnson and his friend Amber Fink of Union City, Pa., and Dustin Johnson of Centerville, Pa.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Valley View Mennonite Church, 24313 State Hwy 89 & 77, Spartansburg, Pa., on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service there at 12 noon. Rev. Robb Esh will officiate.

Burial will be in Valley View Mennonite Cemetery, Spartansburg, Pa.
