Kane man killed in overnight Rt. 66 crash
A Kane man was killed as a result of a one-vehicle crash on state route 66 in Forest County early Thursday morning.
Marienville-based Pennsylvania State Police responded to the scene of the crash, 217 feet south of the Elk County line, at 12:35 a.m. on Thursday.
Police say a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by an unidentified 41-year-old man, Kane, was traveling north near Sheffield Junction Road in Howe Township.
“For an unknown reason, (the vehicle) crossed over the southbound lane and struck a tree in the westbound side of the roadway.”
Police say the man died as a result of the crash and was not wearing a seatbelt.
State Police were assisted at the scene by volunteer fire and emergency services from Sheffield and Marienville in addition to Snyder’s Auto Towing.
