Kane man identified in fatal crash

Pennsylvania State Police have released the name of a Kane man killed in a one-vehicle crash early Thursday morning.

The man was identified as John P. Robinson, 41.

The crash occurred shortly after 12:35 a.m. on Thursday morning. Robinson was driving a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis just south of the Elk County Line on Pa. 66 near Sheffield Junction Road in Howe Township, Forest County.

Troopers said that for “unknown reason” the vehicle “crossed over the southbound lane and struck a tree in the westbound side of the roadway.”

Police said Robinson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died as a result of the accident.

Volunteer firefighters and emergency medical personnel from Sheffield and Marienville, in addition to Snyder’s Auto, assisted police at the scene.
