Clarendon man turns himself in for alleged break-in

A Clarendon man was arraigned on multiple charges Sunday for allegedly breaking into a home and taking more than $600 worth of items, including a pair of pants.

Jermiah Scott Kay, 33, is accused of forcing his way into a woman’s home on Pickering Street in Sheffield Township on Oct. 15 sometime between 7:20 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to a report from Warren State Police.

The list of items stolen include: bags of cigarettes valued at $26, hair clippers missing from the bathroom valued at $400, a backpack and phone charger each worth $20, more than $100 worth of loose change and cash, and a $10 pair of pants, according to the report. There was also $20 in damage reported to the plexiglass in the front door.

Kay turned himself in at the state police barracks in Warren on Sunday at approximately 1 p.m.. He was transported to the Warren County jail, arraigned, and released in lieu of $25,000 unsecured bond, police reported.

Kay was charged with a first-degree felony count of burglary with no person present, a second-degree felony count of criminal trespass — breaking into a structure, first-degree misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, possession of an instrument of crime and two summary counts of criminal mischief — tampering with and damaging property.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6 before Magisterial District Judge Todd Woodin.
