WGH Helipad closes vehicle, boat and pedestrian access for re-paving

The boating season might be winding down as fall approaches but those looking to access the Allegheny River will not be able to use the helipad at Crescent Park for a couple weeks.

“The helipad at Crescent Park will be closed to all boat, vehicle and pedestrian traffic beginning on September 16, 2019,” according to City of Warren police. “The closing is required to complete upgrades to the landing lights, repaving and re-striping of the landing zone.”

Police said the closure will “last approximately two weeks to complete the needed upgrades” and noted that “all helicopter landings will take place at the alternate landing location for medical evacuations.”

“During this time, the boat launch will be inaccessible and other launch areas along the Allegheny River should be utilized,” George Lilja, director of business development and marketing with Warren General Hospital said. “Thank you very much for your cooperation.”
