RDA may demo 4 structures simultaneously

Four problem properties in Warren County are on the doorstep of being demolished all at once.

Each property has been deemed blighted and is before the Warren County Redevelopment Authority for resolution – 4582 Rt. 6 in Sheffield Twp., 3 Economy St. in Tidioute, 7 Exchange St. in Clarendon and 124 N, Main St. in Clarendon.

The Sheffield property is owned by a land trust, the property in Tidioute is owned by the RDA and Clarendon Borough holds title to the two properties in Clarendon.

County Planner Dan Glotz told the authority on Tuesday that the four properties are part of a bid package for demolition and that the plan is “bidding the four as a group.”

Authority member and Chief Clerk Pam Matve said the bids for the demolitions will be opened on Monday during the commissioner’s work session.

“There is some interest out there this time around,” Glotz said.

One of the Clarendon properties had previously been put out for bid utilizing Community Development Block Grant funds but no one bid.

Authority member Joe Scully asked if there were local bidders interested and Glotz said there was.

Authority member Phil Gilbert said it is “probably more enticing to have four” to bid on “rather than just one.”
