Limestone Twp. property complicated

County officials are in a bit of a bind on what to do with a Limestone Township blighted property.

The cause? A complete lack of a response from the owners.

The subject property is located at 58 Bush Lane and the owner of record according to online county assessment records is Lynda Bush-Berenvrok, et. al., with an address that identifies a Kenneth Bush in Oakland, Maryland.

“This one just doesn’t want to go anywhere,” County Planner Dan Glotz said.

Authority member and Chief Clerk Pam Matve said she has tried to contact the owner via telephone, certified mail and regular mail.

“I’ve not gotten anything back,” she said.

Glotz noted that the response received from those efforts indicate that no one knows how to contact the property owner.

So what can be done? Matve outlined a potential new approach.

“(It is) going to take some time,” Matve said, but explained that there are “some things we can possibly do, or the municipality… steps that can be done. (We) need to look into it further…. If you cannot get a hold of them, the municipality has the right to” address the property issues for the betterment of the community.

She noted the county is “looking further into how that process works. There is something that we can do (and we) don’t have to spend the legal fees to go to conservatorship.”

Chairman Charles Barone suggested that municipal ordinance could address the issues but alleged that municipalities find it “easier to pass it on to us.”
