Chapman seeks volunteers for National Public Lands Day

National Public Lands Day will be Saturday, Sept. 21, at Chapman State Park.

Volunteers are needed to help clean up the shoreline, trails, and campground. Groups, scout groups, and individuals are encouraged to help.

The cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers should meet at the Environmental Learning Center, 4790 Chapman Dam Road, Clarendon.

Volunteers will need to bring gloves, shovels, rakes, gardening tools and their own water and snacks. Appropriate attire includes closed-toe shoes or boots, long pants, long-sleeve shirts, hats and rain gear. The event will take place rain or shine.

All volunteers are invited to attend a volunteer appreciation luncheon following the cleanup.

Anyone planning to attend should contact Jen Moore, environmental education specialist, at (814) 723-0259, or email jennmoore@pa.gov.
