Youngsville man charged with 20 counts of child porn

A Youngsville man has been charged with 20 counts of sexual abuse of children — child pornography, following a search of his home on Thursday.

James E. Naugle, 72, of 355 Abraham Hollow Road, was charged with 20 counts of child pornography — all felonies of the second degree — and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

CyberTip reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section to investigate an internet protocol (IP) address that came back to Naugle after what “appears to be the same image of child pornography” was “viewed and/or uploaded four separate instances” in February, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

The affidavit then lists identical sexually explicit descriptions for the four color images of a “girl between the ages of 7 and 9 years old.”

According to the affidavit, a special agent conducted on-site surveillance in August.

Agents, with the assistance of Pennsylvania State Police, executed a search warrant at about 9:25 a.m. Thursday, according to the affidavit.

“At the time of the search warrant, Naugle… was the only person present at the residence,” according to the affidavit.

Police said Naugle signed off on his Miranda rights and agreed to answer questions.

“The actor stated that he does look at child pornography, but that he never uploads or downloads the images onto his computer or any of his devices because he does not want to get caught doing it,” according to the affidavit.

In the affidavit, police gave details of images they said were found on a desktop computer and a laptop computer at Naugle’s residence.

The sexually explicit descriptions allegedly from images on the desktop included: “a female child between the ages of 2 and 4 years… a female child between the ages of 4 and 6 years old… a male child between the ages of 10 and 12 years old… a female child between the ages of 13 and 15 years old… a female child between the ages of 3 and 5 years old,” and an image “depicting an infant child” … and a toddler.

The sexually explicit descriptions allegedly from images on the laptop included: “an infant, appearing to be less than 1 year old… a young female child, appearing to be between 9 and 11 years old… a compilation of 16 separate images of the same female child… appearing to be between 5 and 7 years old… a compilation of 16 separate images of the same female child… appearing to be between 7 and 9 years old… and a compilation of 12 separate images of the same female child… appearing to be between 6 and 8 years old.”

Naugle was arraigned Thursday evening before District Justice Todd Woodin.

Naugle was taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $250,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18.
