Cochranton homicide suspect in custody

A Cochranton man wanted for questioning in a double homicide occurring this weekend in Crawford County has been captured.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (Florida) Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon, “Jack Elijah Turner, the subject being sought in connection with a Pennsylvania double homicide, has been taken into custody by the United States Marshall Service and local authorities, in Charleston, West Virginia.”

“Thanks to everyone for their information, which eventually led to his capture through a local Crime Stoppers tip!”

Turner, 21, awaits extradition back to Pennsylvania on burglary charges and for questioning in the fatal shooting of Shannon Whitman, 49, and her 10-year-old son (reportedly Turner’s stepmother and half-brother, respectively).

Pennsylvania State Police assert Turner stole the car belonging to Whitman, who was found deceased on Rt. 198 in Randolph Township Saturday night; their deaths were ruled homicides with single gunshot wounds to the head.

Turner faces charges stemming from a robbery on Sunday.
