State Police: Missing man found safe

Pennsylvania State Police are thanking those who participated in the safe return of a man who was missing Monday.

Police announced Monday morning that they were searching for Richard Smith, 80, of Mead Township.

Smith was found alive and well not far from his home at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Smith was taken to Warren General Hospital for precautionary treatment, according to police.

Police offered thanks to the volunteers and groups who participated in the search: Clarendon and Pleasant Volunteer Fire Departments, Glade Township Search and Rescue, Northwest PA K-9 Search and Rescue, Elkland Search and Rescue, Warren Alliance Church, the Salvation Army, Pennsylvania State Police, and Trooper 6 — Pennsylvania State Police helicopter.
