Q & A on the REAL-ID license

State Rep. Kathy Rapp will host a REAL ID informational event on Saturday, June 15.

The event will be held at 10 a.m. at Days Inn, 210 Ludlow St, Warren.

Representatives from PennDOT will present information concerning REAL IDs and answer questions from the audience.

The enforcement of the REAL ID Act is set to begin on October 1, 2020, and will require all Pennsylvanians to have a REAL ID-compliant license, identification card, or an acceptable alternative of identification to board domestic commercial flights or enter federal facilities.

The alternative identification must be as approved by the Transportation Security Administration, such as a passport.

“My district offices are hearing from many residents about the frustration they’ve experienced when trying to obtain a REAL ID,” said Rapp.

Given that the process of obtaining a REAL ID is new to everyone, Rapp and PennDOT reps have decided to try to clear up any confusion and give people the opportunity to ensure they have the correct documents needed before going to a DMV center to obtain a REAL ID.

“This free event is a great opportunity for residents to weigh their options and make an informed decision if REAL ID is right for them,” said Rapp.

No REAL IDs will be issued at this event, nor will any documents be pre-verified. All documents will need to be taken to a DMV center for processing.

Those wishing to attend can register by calling Rapp’s Warren district office at (814) 723-5203 or the Titusville district office at (814) 827-6054.

Light refreshments will be provided at the event.
