Missing man found safe

Pennsylvania State Police and Warren County Public Safety have announced that a man who was the subject of a Monday search has been found.

Police said Richard Smith, 80, of Mead Township, was located alive and well walking in a heavily wooded area near Forest Route 160 in Mead Township.

Smith was taken to Warren General Hospital for precautionary treatment, according to police.

Police offered thanks to the volunteers and groups who participated in the search: Clarendon and Pleasant Volunteer Fire Departments, Glade Township Search and Rescue, Northwest PA K-9 Search and Rescue, Elkland Search and Rescue, Warren Alliance Church, the Salvation Army, Pennsylvania State Police, and Trooper 6 – Pennsylvania State Police helicopter.
