Blight properties generate interest
Interest has been expressed in a couple of blighted properties in Warren County — one of which is owned by the Warren County Redevelopment Authority.
The RDA owns the burned-out property at 3 Economy Street in Tidioute.
“All of a sudden, a couple of folks are interested in that place,” County Planner Dan Glotz told the RDA on Tuesday.
There had been discussion about Tidioute Borough potentially taking title to the property and demolishing the remaining structure but that option proved cost-prohibitive.
Glotz said he was contacted by two people — one who is an adjoining property owner.
Glotz said that the RDA’s fees incurred on this property total approximately $2,800 and said he would have to check to see whether the county has to sell it at fair market value
Authority member Joe Scully suggested selling it to “make sure the price recovers our expenses.”
“(We) don’t need more than that,” Chairman Charles Barone added.
Authority member Pam Matve said that total amount is $2,824.89.
Glotz said he was also contacted by an individual who is interested and who said the mortgage company which owns the property — LVDAG FAM LLC — was not returning calls.
Authority member Phil Gilbert — who is also the county’s tax claim director – said the property will be on the next upset sale list.
