State police at the Warren barracks are seeking information about an incident some might consider barbaric.

Police report that as four people were leaving the Tidioute Trading Post at about 11 a.m. on Jan. 5, they attempted to take a wood-carved bear from the front of the bar.

Police did not elaborate as to whether the foursome couldn’t get their bearings or if they were embarrassed by the failed attempt, but they did not leave the scene without causing damage. On their way out, they broke a light and light cover, valued at approximately $125.

The investigation is ongoing.
