There hasn’t been much use for them yet but PennDOT has announced the winners of the “Paint the Plow” contest in Warren and Forest counties.

There were seven entries from schools in Warren and Forest counties in PennDOT’s Paint the Plow contest this year — East Forest, Eisenhower, Sheffield, Tidioute Community, Warren Area, West Forest, and Youngsville.

Voting was opened last month and Tidioute won the popular vote – or “Fan Favorite” category – with 786 reactions on Twitter followed by Sheffield (428), Eisenhower 380, Warren (376), Eisenhower (349), East Forest (210) and West Forest (152).

“During the winter weather season, the blades… will be used to maintain state-owned roadways in Warren and Forest counties.”

Those plows are in use in the communities surrounding the schools.

“Paint the Plow is a statewide outreach aimed at promoting winter driving safety and fostering (an) appreciation for high school art programs,” PennDOT Spokesperson Jill Harry said when the program was announced last month. “Earlier this year, PennDOT invited high school students in Warren and Forest counties to paint plow blades based on the regional theme ‘Winter Wonderland.'”
