AAA recognizes Warren County Police traffic safety programs

Several Warren County Law Enforcement departments have been honored by the AAA East Central Division of Traffic Safety. AAA handed out awards in recognition of community traffic safety programs.

During the past year, the departments provided safety programs in conjunction with AAA, PA Buckle Up program, DUI Taskforce, Warren County School District, and several local businesses. The programs promote safe transportation for children and adults by stressing the importance of proper car-seat installation, driving skills, seat-belt use, and distracted driving and impaired driving awareness.

A gold award — the second-highest community traffic safety award behind Platinum — was won by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, a silver award by the Conewango Township Police Department, a gold award by the City of Warren Police Department, and a gold award by the Youngsville Police Department.

AAA East Central, with its headquarters in Pittsburgh, covers much of West Virginia and parts of Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and New York. Gold awards are given by AAA to departments who have some documentation on a program they have held, including how they are attempting to solve a problem. Silver awards are for less documentation, on local issues and how a department is trying to address those issues. The level of award is, in many cases, based on the level of documentation a department has on specific issues, and not the level of effort.
