Pennsylvania will be picking a U.S. Senator in Tuesday’s General Election.
Democratic Senator Bob Casey, Pennsylvania’s senior senator, is seeking election to a third six-year term and is most seriously challenged by Republican Congressman Lou Barletta.
Libertarian Dale R. Kerns, Jr., and Neal Gale representing the Green Party will also be on the ballot.
Casey was first elected to the Senate in 2006 and re-elected in 2012.
The son of a former Pennsylvania governor, Casey previously served as Pennsylvania’s auditor general and treasurer.

A document on Casey’s website cites several legislative accomplishments from his second term – leading the “most significant update to campus safety laws with respect to intimate partner violence in two decades” with the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act as well as the Stephen Beck, Jr. Achieving A Better Life Experience Act which established tax-free savings accounts for individuals with disabilities without losing other benefits.
Casey’s website says he “played a key role in the formulation of” the education reform “Every Student Succeeds Act,” as well as several pieces of legislation that resulted in “promoting tax policies to grow the Pennsylvania economy and create jobs.”
