Sheffield man arrested following alleged sexual contact with 4-year-old

John R. Castor

A Sheffield man is accused of having sexual contact with a four-year-old child.

John Russell Castor Jr., 29, of Sheffield, was arrested Friday on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, corruption of minors, and indecent assault person less than 13, after City of Warren police were called to Warren General Hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 23 for a reported possible sexual assault on a four-year-old child who was being treated there.

The child’s mother told police that the child told her that Castor had engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with the child. A sexual assault exam was completed and a detective assigned to the case. The child was later interviewed at Warren County Children and Youth, where the same events were reported as had been told to the child’s mother and hospital staff.

Castor was called in for an interview, where he “agreed to the events that occurred before and after the sexual act, but denied engaging in inappropriate sexual contact,” the affidavit states.

Castor is charged with one felony count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and corruption of minors, and one misdemeanor count of indecent assault person less than 13.

According to online court documents, Castor’s bail was set at $50,000. He awaits a preliminary hearing set for Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.

Starting at $3.50/week.
