Outdoor Show will be held at Warren YMCA

The Darin Freeborough Memorial Outdoor Show will be changing venues this year.

“The mall is doing some work in the stores and things we used to use,” said WCCBI Director of Chamber Operations and Tourism John Papalia. So, this year, the outdoor show will be at the Warren YMCA, on Lexington Avenue. “Once we knew that the mall would not be available this year,” said Papalia, “we started to look into other options and the YMCA reached out to us about utilizing their two gyms.”

“We’re excited to be at the YMCA,” said Papalia. “One thing that I think is nice is that all the vendors are together in the same rooms. I think this will help to ensure the crowds make it by all the different vendors we have.”

Vendors will be in the east and west gyms this year, and outdoor displays like boats will be in the parking lot by the side entrances, said Papalia. “I think people are receiving the change well,” said Papalia. Vendor spots filled fast for the annual event, with over 50 vendors slated to be attending. The biggest challenge to the change in venue, said Papalia, is parking. While there is parking in the YMCA lot, said Papalia, overflow parking is expected to be routed to the area of the city’s municipal pool, so “I would advise spectators to maybe try to arrive early for a close spot.”

Entrance to the show will be through the side gymnasium doors, as well as the main entrance. As always, said Papalia, the show is free and there will be a number of food vendors on hand for anyone planning to stay the day.

This year’s show will run Saturday, Jan. 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
