Rt. 666 in Sheffield closing for bridge repair
Route 666 in Sheffield Township will be closed through the weekend for a bridge repair.
The road will be closed from the intersection with Rt. 948 to the intersection with US 6.
Up for replacement is a 13-foot-long steel pipe-arch culvert bridge over Dodge Run. The structure was built in 1967 and, according to PennDOT, is “classified as structurally deficient.”
The road is utilized by roughly 3,000 vehicles per day.
PennDOT said the road is expected to be open on Monday, August 28.
“A detour is posted using Route 6 into Kane, McKean County, Route 66 in McKean and Elk counties, Route 948 in Elk, Forest, and Warren counties, and Route 666 in Warren County,” PennDOT said. “Motorists should also anticipate traffic lane restrictions controlled by flaggers during other portions of the project.”
A temporary pedestrian bridge will be open during the construction.
