Fitting tribute

At halftime of the Brookville at Warren Dragons season-opener on Friday evening at War Memorial Field, a plaque — to be place outside War Memorial — was dedicated to former longtime Warren Area High School football coach John “Toby” Shea, at right, by former standout and also a former Warren coach Greg Latimer. Family, friends and former players of Shea, a Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association hall of famer, attended the game, and will also attend a banquet honoring him Saturday evening at St. Joseph Center. Doors open at 5 p.m., with a happy hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner and several keynote speakers, including Ed O’Neil, who played for Shea before starring at Penn State. There were still a few tickets remaining as of gametime on Friday. Former Warren and Youngsville players of coach Shea are honoring the coach whose teams finished with undefeated seasons at both schools. For football game stories, see page C-1.
