Longhouse Scenic Drive will be closed beginning July 31
Longhouse Scenic Drive will be closed starting July 31.
The six week project being completed by the Allegheny National Forest will close a section of Longhouse Scenic Drive (FR-262) for replacement of a damaged culvert starting Monday according to an ANF press release. The culvert is located between Elijah Run Boat Launch and Kiasutha Campground. While the ANF says that all recreation sites on Longhouse will remain open, visitors may need to use an alternate route to reach specific sites.
To reach Kiasutha from Route 59 from Warren continue on Route 59 until you reach Route 321 south to Kane. Turn south on Route 321 and follow it until you reach the southern end of the Longhouse National Scenic Byway, then turn north. Elijah Run, Dewdrop, and Jakes Rocks overlook and trails can still be accessed from Route 59.
To reach Elijah Run, Dewdrop, and Jakes Rocks from Route 6 coming from Kane follow Route 321 north to Route 59 to the Longhouse Scenic Drive and turn south.
Detour signs will be posted to inform travelers about the road closure, and turnaround locations will be available on Route 262 at the points of road closure, the ANF said. The project is expected to last six weeks.
