WCCC putting finishing touches on Habitat For Humanity house
A two year project is nearly complete.
Said Greg Waterman, building and construction teacher at the Warren County Career Center, only a few things are left to do as the school year wraps up.
Much of that, said Waterman, will be getting completed at the site where the house is set to go.
The structure itself is built in two pieces and will be separated to be moved to the site, on Railroad Street in Clarendon, at some point this summer. Waterman’s goal, he said, was to get the home’s three bedrooms essentially finished and to leave the remainder of the house — including the kitchen, dining and living areas, one full and one half bath, and utility room — to be finished on site once the structure was placed.
What will need done at that point, said Waterman, includes painting, flooring, and drywalling the home and all of the finishing work like installing countertops, cabinets, and fixtures. The family selected to live in the home along with Habitat staff and volunteers will work together to finish the house before the family moves in.
“It’s been a good project,” said Waterman.
