Man charged with killing his wife arraigned via video feed

The man charged with killing his wife at their Chandlers Valley residence last Wednesday has been arraigned on a count of criminal homicide.

Online court records show that Matthew Brian White, 34, was arraigned on Friday at 4 p.m. by District Justice Glenn Carlson.

District Attorney Rob Greene said on Monday that White was arraigned while in the hospital via a video feed.

Records show that bail was denied, with “homicide” cited as the reason.

Records also do not show that White is yet represented by an attorney.

Greene said that a preliminary hearing originally set for June 27 at 11 a.m. has been continued. Records show that the preliminary hearing is now set for July 12 at 2 p.m.

At 5:09 p.m. on Wednesday state police responded to a 911 hangup call from the White’s 5390 Brown Hill Road home.

The first trooper at the scene said he saw Jessica White, White’s wife, in the driver’s seat of a red Honda Civic. She was unresponsive and “appeared to have numerous gunshot wounds to her torso,” according to the affidavit.

The trooper saw Matthew White in the passenger seat. He was “semi-conscious.” He got out of the car and collapsed “as a result of a suspected gunshot would to the chest area,” according to the affidavit.

Both were transported for treatment.

Jessica White was pronounced dead at Warren General Hospital.

Matthew White was taken by emergency helicopter to UPMC Hamot.
