Corry man charged for pointing gun at man’s head, pulling trigger

A Corry man is charged with aggravated assault after allegedly pointing a gun at a man’s head and pulling the trigger.

Aron A. Barstow, 40, of Corry, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, and harassment.

At about 6:40 p.m. Sunday, April 16, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a call of an assault involving a handgun at the East Main St., Columbus, residence of Larry Barker.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Barstow was at the residence when he allegedly pointed a .25-caliber handgun between Erie resident Duane Sopher’s eyes and pulled the trigger. “The gun did not fire,” according to police, “at which time Barstow then pointed the gun at Barker.”

Barker and Sopher then tackled Barstow and wrestled the gun away from him, police said.

Barstow was arraigned before District Justice Laura Bauer and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $100,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 26.
