Women charged with attempting to steal animal rescue horses
Two horses that had been surrendered to an animal rescue association were nearly stolen last Thursday.
Warren-based state police said the horses had previously been surrendered to All Animal Protection, Inc., (AAPI), Parker, Pa. because Sharon Grace Moore, 45, Petrolia, Pa., and Mandi Jean Lorraine Glass, 18, Parker, Pa., could not take care of them.
The horses were then subsequently adopted by Carina Tucker, 530 Hunter School Road in Southwest Township.
Police report that Moore and Glass were found leading two horses down Tucker’s driveway at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14.
Police allege that the two were attempting to take the horses to their truck and trailer when Tucker spotted them and called 911.
Police said Penny Dewoehrel of AAPI provided troopers with signed animal surrender papers.
In the affidavit of probable cause, police said that Moore and Glass felt they had the right to take the horses because they had the original ownership certificates.
Police said they were charged with theft by unlawful taking and agricultural trespass on posted land through District Justice Todd Woodin’s office and are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 24.
Parker and Petrolia are along the Allegheny River, south of Emlenton.
